– The Internet economy is one of the most important drivers for economic growth in Europe. If Europe is to take full benefit of this development we must offer the best conditions in the world for the usage of mobile Internet, said Gunnar Hökmark (MEP, Vice-Chairman of the EPP Group) at an event that he hosted in the European Parliament together with Cisco on the opportunities for mobile broadband.
– The demand for mobile Internet is growing with exponential speed. This means increased growth, more services, innovations and opportunities for all. More spectrum for mobile Internet is crucial to facilitate this economic growth and to avoid hitting the capacity roof in the mobile networks, underlined Hökmark.
– Wi-Fi has increasingly become the default way to connect to the internet within households, airports, hospitals, schools or public places. Together with fibre deployment this is a crucial ingredient in the Internet’s ecosystem. Actions are needed now to ensure that Wi-Fi can continue to grow and create opportunities in the economy, ended Hökmark.
