At today’s launch of the European People’s Party working group on Economic and Social and Policy, Chairman Gunnar Hökmark made the following remarks:
– If we do not approach the EU2020 strategy with a greater sense of urgency high public deficits and unemployment will continue to squeeze out opportunities in European economy and society.
– We in the European People’s Party should take the lead and propose concrete changes to Europe’s reform agenda within the EU2020 framework. Focus should be on what we can do at European level and how to apply rules already in place.
– Business as usual is not an option and I prefer ambitious reforms to ambitious ambitions, concluded Chairman Hökmark.
