Hökmark’s amendments on a roaming free Internet

  • av

EPP Group Vice-Chairman Gunnar Hökmark has today tabled amendments to the roaming regulation, which you will find here, that will abolish the need for data roaming in Europe.

Gunnar Hökmark’s proposal will enable costumers that visit another EU country to access the internet at the same price and conditions as domestic costumers in the visiting country.  By subscribing directly with local operators, consumers will no longer have to pay excessive prices when surfing via smart phones or other internet devices abroad.

Other amendments tabled by Gunnar Hökmark concentrates on increasing competition on the roaming market, facilitating the emergence of new business models and technologies, as well as allocating sufficient radiospectrum, thereby reducing the structural reasons for roaming.
